This Kerman rug was handwoven in the 1920s. It is richly colored, the dye varying in intensity and wear, adding to the rug's already abundant design. A medallion consisting of a network of stylized vine and floral elements is positioned in the center of the main rectangle, surrounded by more flowers and vines in a palette of pinks, purples, blues, greens, and oranges. Borders frame this central rectangle with floral & vine patterns in the same palette as that of the center.
This rug has age-appropriate wear. Its distressed areas and parts of abrash give it character and are part of what makes the rug beautiful. Overall it is in sound shape. It has been newly cleaned.
