This Afghan kilim was hand-woven in the 1940s. It is a bold colored rug with a palette of pink, red, blue, white, orange, and green that all vary in intensity. The fading adds a richness to the color and texture. Like many Afghan rugs, this kilim was woven in two halves which were then joined together at the middle, creating a beautiful symmetry, with each half is woven with a diamond medallion design. The rug culminates with white fringes at either end.
