Midcentury Lacquered Parchment Cocktail Table by Karl Springer

This square cocktail or coffee table was manufactured circa 1960s. It was designed by Karl Springer. The table is comprised of a wood frame wrapped in parchment and then treated with lacquer. The resulting texture is jewel-like, "freezing" the natural fibers of the parchment beneath. Springer's designs are renowned for their use of minimalism heightened by unconventional materials like leather, grasscloth, & other natural fibers that are transformed through various finishes. This particular table will light up a room with its bright hues of yellow. Beveled edges and thick cubic legs are other noteworthy features of this fantastic table.
