Pair of Peter Hunt Hand-Painted & Signed Benches

These lovely benches were painted by the American folk artist Peter Hunt, who was renowned for colorfully painted furniture in the 1940s and 1950s. These benches are painted, front and back, with maritime scenes. These idyllic pictures are of a seaside town, with boats and fish in the water, rendered in broad strokes and bold color. The edges of the benches are painted in hues of red and orange while the surfaces of the seat and legs are cobalt and indigo blues. Hunt's signature adorn the seat surface in his familiar cursive. The benches are well worn, giving them a weathered, rustic look.
